update on may 07 8 million gallon into hudson sewage spill, i took some photo’s this weekend to see how the wetlands looked
it looks like the stone drain into the hudson under the metronorth tracks , is the only fix
the water feeding into the Hudson looks pretty rusty. i guess that was the fix.
there is also a collection of photo’s mixed in from the original may 7 , 2007 spill, those are easily spotted as the vegetation was much greener than this weekends picture
1077 warburton remi VELOCITY building
this is the one week after photo
i just saw the rendering on the Yonkers handout at the meet the mayor meeting.
velocity is a good name for it, since it tends to cave in quite a bit.
per the mayor , they were supposed to have a report on how to fix the problem on Friday, haven’t heard anything yet. as far as i know the Bishops are unable to return to occupy their house. the major said the fire department did brace it up as well as they could to prevent further damage.
i feel really bad for the family that lives there , Bishops, they put up with so much and are so close to the pounding, the dirt from the construction i am sure they just wanted to be left alone in their house, and i really can respect and understand and applaud their decision to stay put. this is horrible turn of events for them, i know legally they probably have plenty of recourse, but they didn’t want to sell , so they shouldn’t be forced out by improper design and construction, we know if they get pushed out the project will become wider and bigger.
greenway pictures added
i put a collection of photo’s from some of my greenway rides in the link for flickr on the lower right, edit , it doesnt work, but look under bookmarks and the phot’s are there. fix that latter.
a couple are from the yonkers sculpture gardens, most are from nyc Hudson greenway and a couple from Hastings waterfront park. what i am going to try and show a good greenway design and poor greenwaqy design. most of nyc west side greenway is excellent, that is the standard, cause it works.
irvington ny recently finished waterfront park IMO is a poor design, and was poor use of the available land, more on that latter.
